Why Mentoring?
Remarkable things happen when people pursue their passions. But passion alone isn't enough to produce entrepreneurial success. It must be combined with knowledge, guidance and encouragement to bring business possibilities to life.
Thriving entrepreneurs often cite mentoring as a critical component of their success. Powered by MicroMentor, an industry leader in online mentoring platforms, the EBRD has proven experience helping small business communities reap the benefits of mentoring, growing their businesses every year.

Kazakhstan Government
The EBRD “Women in business” programme in Kazakhstan is supported by the government of Kazakhstan. The programme provides access to finance and know-how to women-led MSMEs. In 2017, the EBRD team in Kazakhstan has launched “Mentoring for women entrepreneurs” programme as part of a larger initiative of helping women enterprises grow and develop. Since then, almost 1000 women entrepreneurs have seen the benefits of mentoring, both as mentors and mentees.
We-Fi
We-Fi is a collaborative partnership among 14 governments, eight multilateral development banks (MDBs), and other public and private sector stakeholders, hosted by the World Bank Group. The founding financial contributors are: Australia, Canada, China, Denmark, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, the Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Republic of Korea, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States. These governments have committed $355 million to date. At the core of We-Fi’s approach to unlocking finance and growth for WMSEs are its Implementing Partners— multilateral development banks that develop and implement We-Fi projects. They work with government and private sector partners and networks around the world to maximize the impact of We-Fi funding. Implementing Partners help We-Fi achieve global reach, mobilize resources, and build collaborative partnerships to attain scale and systemic impact for women across the entrepreneurial ecosystem, including in the most challenging environments.
About EBRD
At the EBRD, we know that vibrant small and medium-sized enterprises are vital to economic life, across the 38 economies where we work. From accessing finance to business advice, the EBRD seeks to help businesses gain the skills, knowledge and resources they need to take the next step.
We also believe in the power of economic inclusion to help change economies, and, through our Women in Business programme, we are providing women entrepreneurs with the tools to grow and the space to share experience and learn from each other.
We also work closely with our partner financial institutions in each country to help them offer financial products that better meet the needs of small businesses, serving their customers better for the long term.
